Dermal Fillers Treatment in Geelong
Dermal fillers refer to a non-surgical treatment that is tasked with shaping and proportioning the face. A dermal filler treatment is widely regarded as an extremely effective and powerful tool for enhancing and rejuvenating facial features and skin.
Novus Dermatology & Skin Health provides the best lip fillers in Geelong to add volume to your lips in the most natural and organic way.
An unfortunate fallout of the ageing process is the inevitable sagging and drooping of the skin. This occurs as there is a considerable loss of facial volume which, when mixed with gravity ends up causing your facial skin to sag a lot faster than the skin on other parts of your body. As such, this loss of volume becomes a lot more apparent a lot faster. Dermal Fillers are primarily tasked with replenishing this volume while also rejuvenating the facial tissue. This helps restore an individual’s facial tissue to a more youthful and natural appearance.
Standard dermal fillers treatment involves injecting the dermal fillers into different tissues that are under the epidermis. Once they are injected into these layers and structures, they can add a significant amount of support to the skin. This support ensures that the dermal structure can restore a significant amount of its hydration as well as youthful volume. In other words, any wrinkles or imperfections on the skin are completely smoothed out.
Dermal Fillers Treatment
The most commonly used dermal fillers in the market are made of hyaluronic acid. This compound is naturally found in our bodies and primarily resides in our skins and joints. However, in the human body, these chains of hyaluronic acid are extremely loosely linked. On the other hand, this acid in dermal fillers is bonded together through a type of cross-link. This results in extremely thick fillers that help volumize an area as they are significantly firmer.
Our treatment involving dermal fillers in Geelong helps remove wrinkles and restore the volume of your face. The treatment is completely safe and is completed in a really quick time.
The best part about dermal fillers treatments is that when using hyaluronic acid, there is no worry about the reversibility of the procedure as all you need to do is inject Hyaluronidase, which is an enzyme that helps reverse any excess hyaluronic acid injections.

Dermal fillers
Facial aging occurs mainly as the result of volume loss in skin, fat, muscle, and bone. Fillers, of which there are several types are soft, gel-like substances that are injected under the skin to restore the volume lost and give a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers treatment is a medical procedure that requires specific training, knowledge and skill to provide safe treatment and natural-looking results. Our experienced cosmetic practitioner will carefully assess, plan and discuss the treatment with you before the procedure.
What is dermal filler and how does it work?
Dermal fillers can be composed of a variety of substances, some naturally occurring and some synthetic. We use only fillers which are reversible and are dissolvable with an antidot ( hyaluronidase) if necessary. One of the most common dermal fillers used is hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin, and it plays a major role in keeping skin hydrated and volumized.
Dermal fillers are instant, there is a visible result immediately after the injection, but it takes up to four weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue and provide a softer look.
HA fillers can last from six months to much longer (approximately 18 months or even years depending on the type of filler and where it has been injected.)
Why do we use dermal fillers?
Dermal filler can be used to enhance cheeks and restore facial volume and soften deep facial creases and wrinkles.
They can also be used to define the lips and to plump lips. This must be done expertly to avoid being unnatural looking and apparent. Fillers can also be used for rejuvenation of the hands.
How is the treatment performed?
Dermal fillers are injected with a sharp or blunt needle (dermal cannula) under the skin. Most HA fillers have a numbing agent added to the gel to facilitate a more comfortable treatment. Usually, no anaesthetic cream is required, although for treatment of lips we apply cream 45 min prior to treatment.
Depending on the number of areas to be treated, your appointment duration can be 15-20 minutes or as long as an hour.
The treatment cost is depending on what is required to achieve and the best result for your age and face type. This can be discussed on your initial consultation.

Important to know:
There is very little down time with this procedure. It is completely normal to experience a little bit of discomfort, redness and bruising / swelling after the procedure.
You will be able to return to your normal activities straight away, although it is a good idea to rest for a day and also avoid intense physical activities for a couple of days.
There are certain risks with fillers. As mentioned above, one of the main benefits of HA fillers is that they can be dissolved by hyaluronidase in case of an adverse event, or to reduce volume in certain areas. Very rarely dissolving with the antidote (hyaluronidase) may be required as an emergency because of injection to a blood vessel.
You will be given detailed and specific information and instructions about the treatment and on care post-procedure.
